Terrorism: EU agreement on cooperation with Kosovo

Joint action plan on foreign fighters and money laundering

31 October, 10:15
(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - Managing the return of foreign fighters, blocking extremism and countering money laundering and terrorist financing are the priorities of the joint anti-terrorism action plan which the EU Commission and Kosovo government signed in Brussels on Wednesday. The agreement, which was signed by the EU Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos and the Kosovar Interior Minister Ekrem Mustafa, outlines the counter-terrorism actions that Pristina will have to adopt starting now and throughout the coming year.

This is the third such agreement signed between the EU and a Balkan country within the broader joint action plan to fight against terrorism in the Western Balkans signed in October 2018.

The first two agreements between Brussels and the individual Balkan partner country are those signed in early October with Albania and North Macedonia, whereas - the Commission said - the remaining three (with Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia, and Herzegovina) will soon be finalized.(ANSA).
