Kosovo: almost 100 doctors left in three months

Health care union, urgent measures to stop phenomenon

15 October, 17:45
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCTOBER 15 - Almost hundred doctors, including many young, have left Kosovo in the last three months, the regional Tv N1 reported today, quoting local media in Pristina.

The Doctors' Chamber and Health Care Union in Kosovo asked for urgent measures to prevent the loss of health professionals, while Haxhi Avdyli, a member of the Parliamentary committee for Health, suggested that the 'exodus' of doctors was provoked by the bad management of the health care system, adding that the "most vital part of society is running away." The Kosovo Health Ministry replied that a draft law has been adopted for guaranteeing higher pay for health care staff, the Tv N1 informed.
