10 days of ceremonies, debates, concerts

(ANSA) - PRISTINA - Kosovo is preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its independence from Serbia, which took place February 17, 2008, with 10 days of ceremonies, seminars, debates, and concerts.

In Pristina, British actress and singer Rita Ora, who was born in the capital city in 1990, is scheduled to perform.

Her family left Kosovo for political reasons and established themselves in London in 1991, when she was just one year old.

Kosovo, which has about two million residents who are mostly ethnic Albanian Muslims, has been recognised as independent by 111 of the 193 UN countries, including the US and 23 of the 28 EU member states, including Italy.

Countries that do not recognise Kosovo's independence, in addition to Serbia, include Russia, China, Spain, Greece, Romania, Cyprus and Slovakia. (ANSA).
