Kosovo: premier, in March regular army and abolition of visa

Haradinaj, talks focusing on these issues on Dec.18

(ANSA) - PRISTINA - Kosovo's prime minister Ramush Haradinaj said he believes that the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into real Armed Forces will take place next March, when the abolition of visa requirements for Kosovar citizens traveling to the Schengen area is expected to be approved.

Haradinaj told the Kosovar public television RTK that he he will speak about these issues on 18 December during talks in Brussels with the EU leadership. US and NATO are not opposed to the creation of a regular Kosovar army, but think this should be done through appropriate amendments to the constitution. Serbia is strongly opposed to Kosovar regular armed forces, since Belgrade does not recognise Pristina's independence.

In order to approve visa-free travel for Kosovar citizens, the EU asks Pristina to respect two conditions: the ratification of the agreement with Montenegro on the demarcation of the border line, and a more effective fight against corruption and crime.(ANSA).
