(ANSA) - BRUXELLES - The European Union calls on Kosovo for a "continuous engagement in the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina", with "the implementation of all agreements already reached without delays", says the EU and Kosovo's delegations in a joint statement after the second meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Council in in Brussels. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, paid its first official visit to Brussels since his appointment. At the last moment, however, a scheduled press conference was canceled, officially "for agenda reasons", explained the EU spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic.

Haradinaj had a bilateral meeting in the morning with the EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini. After the Council, he met EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn. The delegations didn't talk about Eulex, the European civilian mission in Kosovo, and the resignation of the British judge Malcolm Simmons, who denounced a widespread corruption in the organization, said the spokesperson.

Pristina's commitment to reforms required by Brussels, visa liberalization for Kosovar citizens and dialogue with Belgrade facilitated by the EU were the main subjects of the Council.

"The new Kosovo's government needs a strong commitment, as we are approaching a crucial year and the country must not lose momentum", the spokeswoman pointed out. "What Kosovar politicians are saying about visa liberalization is somehow discrepant from what we are saying. Even on the dialogue with Belgrade, the new Prime Minister Haradinaj has to react and put in action the implementation of the agreements".(ANSA).
