Kosovo: Haradinaj, we want to join the EU, UN and NATO

Dacic warns, Belgrade will never recognise Pristina

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - ''Since 1999 Kosovo has been heading towards the independent Republic of Kosovo, and our goal is to join the European Union, the United Nations and NATO'', said Kosovo's prime minister Ramush Haradinaj.

In an interview with Serbia's private TV broadcaster Palma plus, Haradinaj - former UCK leader, the Albanian independent military that fought against Serbs in the late 1990s war - at the same time praised the proposal made by Serbia's president Aleksandar Vucic, to start from October a dialogue on Kosovo's internal society in Serbia. ''This is an celever initiative. Not only do leaders have to talk to each other, but it is also appropriate for our peoples to do it'', Haradinaj said.

According to Belgrade's foreign minister Ivica Dacic, ''Serbia will never recognise the independence proclaimed by Kosovo on February 17, 2008. Thaci is dreaming and living in a parallel universe'', he said, media in Belgrade reported. In his opinion, only dialogue and compromise can lead to a lasting solution to the Kosovo question.
