(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) organized in Skopje a summer school named "Remembrance and Intercultural Dialogue", between 17 and 22 July, a CEI statement reported. Participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo and France attended the lectures and workshops together with 11 lecturers from the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Montenegro and France. The summer school was supported by the CEI and the FON University.

The participants enjoyed discovering the history of Skopje, the theories of remembrance and history, examples of youth work for the promotion of peace and reconciliation in the Balkans.

Christian Thimonier, Ambassador of France in Macedonia, mentioned in his opening speech that "Remembrance of the sufferings of people in the past is often forgotten. It's important for us to confront with the remembrance of the past in order to create a European memory". (ANSA).
