Hungary: industry significantly declining in December

Erste, new data 'huge negative surprise'

06 February, 20:12
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 6 - In December 2019 the volume of industrial production in Hungary declined by 1.2% year-on-year, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) said today. The based on working-day adjusted data, production dropped by 3.7%.

"Production volume decreased in almost half of the manufacturing subsections," with a significant fall in particular "in the manufacture of transport equipment," the KSH noted.

"This morning's industrial output figures came as a huge negative surprise," Erste Groups Research said in a note commenting the data, adding that "the figures can be seen as rather negative, given the fact the recent PMI figures have not indicated any considerable slowdown." (ANSA).
