Hungary: 2018 hottest year since records started in 1901

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JANUARY 9 - Last year, 2018, was the warmest year in Hungary since records began in 1901, the Hungarian National Meterological Service (OMSZ) announced.

According to the preliminary climate assessment of OMSZ, in 2018 the national average temperature registered in the country was 11.99 degrees Celsius, the highest value since 1901, when records started, a value that exceeds by 1.66 degrees the normal value recorded between 1981 and 2010.

"Eight of the first ten hottest years" in the last 117 years were registered in Hungary since 2000, the OMSZ informed. After 2018, the warmest year were 2014 (11,93 degrees), 2015 (11,68), 2007 (11,63), 2000 (11,57), 1994 (11,43), 2008 (11,40), 2002 (11,33), 1934 and 2012 (both 11,31). (ANSA).
