(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 06 APR - In 2016, over 50% of households in six Member States experienced some difficulty in covering health services, the EU statistical office Eurostat said today, on the eve of the World Health Day, which is celebrated on April 7.

Among the countries where most of people experienced difficulties in covering those costs, Greece (90%), Hungary (74%), Cyprus (72%), Latvia (64%), Slovakia (61%) and Italy (56%).

Eurostat noted that the costs of public and private health care services are taken into consideration in the calculations.

Health care services costs include, for example, costs of consultations, treatments, prescribed medications, and dental examinations or treatments. Eurostat said as well that the majority of households (71%) in the European Union were able to pay the costs for health services with ease in 2016, 29% with some difficulty. (ANSA).
