(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 19 APR - In the last 16 years, the workers' productivity is increasing, but salaries are not growing with the same pace in the EU, and in particular in countries such as Greece, Romania, Hungary Poland and Croatia, new figures published today by the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) and European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) revealed.

According to ETUI and ETUC, between 2000 and 2016 the increase of productivity in the EU was 10%, while wages increased only by 2,5% in the same period.

In Croatia, the productivity increased by 42% between 2000 and 2016, while wages by 11%. In Poland, productivity increased by 64%, wages by 32%. In Hungary, Romania and Greece "real wages went down in the last 16 years, while productivity increased," ETUI and ETUC said in a statement. Productivity increased in Hungary by 19%, in Romania by 10%, in Greece by 2%, while wages decreased respectively by 5%, 15% and 10%. The trend of the increase in wages not matching the increase in productivity is common also in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain and the Netherlands, ETUI and ETUC said. (ANSA).
