Macedonia: process of renaming main airport completed
New signboard ‘Skopje International’, gesture toward

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 03 APR - The process of renaming the
Skopje airport, in Macedonia, was fully completed this morning,
local media reported.
After removing in February the old signboard with the previous 'Alexander the Great' name, the management of the airport replaced it today with the new signboard with the name 'Skopje International Airport'.
Renaming the main airport in Skopje and the highway E-75, decided already in February, is a goodwill gesture by the Skopje political authorities towards Athens. Macedonia and Greece are conducting negotiations to resolve the longstanding issue over the former Yugoslav republic's name. Greece considers the term 'Macedonia' and Alexander the Great as its own historical heritage. (ANSA).
