(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, FEBRUARY 18 - Thanks to a contribution of
91 million euros, Italy is the country that has committed the
biggest amount of money, among EU member countries, to help
Albania in rebuilding after the November 26th earthquake. That
is what emerges from the comparison of donations in the
aftermath of the conference that brought together about 100 EU
delegations in Brussels, from EU member countries, as well as
non-EU partner states, financial institutions, and international
organizations to help Tirana recover from the big quake.
The collective commitment at the end of the conference was €
1.15 bn. Of these, 400 m come from the European Union: the
Commission is committed to allocating 115 m, member states 180 m
and the European Investment Bank (EIB) 102 million. Apart from
Italy, the other EU countries that announced the most important
commitments were France (61 million) and Germany (11 million).
