(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 04 JULY - The Western Balkan summit opened today in Poznan. Leaders and Ministers from ten EU Member States (Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Greece, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Slovenia and Great Britain) and from the six Western Balkan countries, along with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, European Commissioners Johannes Hahn and Violeta Bulc, will focus on regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations, security, connectivity and the rule of law. The EU delegation aims at strengthening links within the region and with the European Union by launching new programmes to improve transport and energy connectivity and to boost digital transformation. Commissioner Hahn delivered a keynote speech this morning at the Grand Opening session. "Of the 1 billion Euro the Commission pledged at my first Western Balkans Summit in Vienna in 2015, 90% has already been committed. Those grants are leveraging total investments of about 3.2 billion Euro and will contribute to the creation of more than 45,000 jobs", he said.(ANSA).
