(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 DIC - The Bosnian capital is registering a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the city in 2018. "Over a half million of tourists visited Sarajevo in the period from January to November, and there were 1.1 million of overnight stays," a 17-20% increase, said Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board spokesperson Aida Kusundzija, quoted on local media.

"In October we broke the record of the millionth stay in the Sarajevo Canton, the first time after 1984 when Sarajevo was the centre of the world" due to the Winter Olympics, Kusundzija added.

Tourists to Sarajevo mostly come from Turkey, the United States, Croatia and Serbia, with the number of visitors from Germany and Italy also significant, local media informed.
