(ANSA) - BERLIN, SEPT. 27 - German growth will be lower than
expected, this year, according to figures released by some
economic research institutes and reported today by the German
media.
GDP growth is predicted at + 1.7% in 2018, whereas in spring
an increase of 2.2% had been estimated. According to forecasts,
growth should remain below 2% even next year, that is between
1.8% and 1.9%.
Among the main causes: the increase in customs duties and the
slowdown in exports. ''The recovery of the German economy is
slowing down. Demand from abroad is weakening and at the same
time companies have more problems in finding skilled labour'',
said Roland Doehrn, head of the Essen-based Leibniz-Institut for
economic research.
