Germany: GDP up 0.5% in 2nd quarter 2018
Positive contribution from domestic demand, employment up
14 August, 11:14 (ANSA) - BELGRADE, 14 AGO - In the second quarter of 2018,
the German gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.5% on the
previous quarter of the year, according to information released
today by the German statistical office.
The statistical office said that "positive contributions"
came from domestic demand, with final consumption expenditure of
both households and general government increasing in the second
quarter.
According to the data released today, the price-adjusted GDP rose 2.3% in the second quarter of 2018. In the first quarter of 2018 it grew +1.4%. The calendar-adjusted GDP growth in the second quarter of 2018 was 2.0%, following a +2.1% in the first quarter.
The statistical office said that there were 599,000 more people employed, or 1.4%, more than a year earlier. (ANSA).
