TV: low penetration of ‘smart’ equipment in CEE
At the bottom of the rank Romania, Greece and Poland
22 November, 10:32While in 2016 11% of Europeans watched internet streamed TV or other video content on a smart TV, the percentage goes much lower in countries like Romania, Greece and Poland.
Only 3% of individuals in Greece and Romania watched streamed videos on a smart TV in 2016, 4% in Poland, Bulgaria and Italy.
Low levels of use of smart TVs for watching videos or TV in streaming were recorded also in the Czech Republic (5%), Slovakia and Hungary (6%), Croatia (7%), Latvia (8%), Lithuania and Estonia (both 10%). Above the EU average Austria (13%) and Germany (16%).
Eurostat said that the use of smart TVs for internet streamed TV or other video content was most popular in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom (both 22%), followed by Sweden (21%), Denmark (20%) and Finland (17%).
