In Czechia the lowest unemployment in the EU
In November low rates also in Germany and Poland
09 January, 12:05The lowest unemployment rates in November 2019 were recorded in Czechia (2.2%), Germany (3.1%) and Poland (3.2%), the EU statistical office said. On the opposite of the scale, Greece (16.8%) and Spain (14.1%).
In a yearly comparison, unemployment rate fell in 20 Member States. The largest decreases were registered in Greece (from 18.8% to 16.8% between September 2018 and September 2019), Bulgaria (from 4.8% to 3.7%), Estonia (from 5.3% to 4.2% between October 2018 and October 2019) and Croatia (from 7.5% to 6.5%).
Unemployment increased slightly in some Central- and Eastern EU countries, including Slovenia (from 4.4% to 4.6%), Czechia (from 2.0% to 2.2%) and Lithuania (from 5.8% to 6.4%).
In November 2019, the lowest rates of youth unemployment were observed in Czechia (5.2%), Germany (5.9%) and Bulgaria (7.0%), while the highest were recorded in Greece (32.5%), Spain (32.1%) and Italy (28.6%).
The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 7.5% in November 2019, 6.3% in the EU-28. (ANSA).
