(ANSA) - ZAGREB, DECEMBER 5 - It is likely that Brussels will
open accession negotiations with Albania after the next European
elections, perhaps as early as next summer or autumn, said
Croatia's PM Andrej Plenkovic, after the meeting with his
Albanian counterpart Edi Rama, on the sidelines of the summit of
the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Zagreb.
''I am convinced that, after the European elections, it will
be possible to reach a consensus within the European Council on
the opening of negotiations with Albania'', Plenkovic
underlined, adding that Croatia will fully support Tirana's path
towards accession into 'EU. At the end of the meeting the two
premiers signed a Declaration on a strategic partnership between
Albania and Croatia. (ANSA).
