Croatia: government to raise minimum salary to 404 euro

Measure will impact around 37,000 people

30 November, 20:29
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 30 - Croatia will raise the minimum monthly wage from 2,751 kuna, around 370 euros, to 3,000 kuna (approximately 404 euros) from January 1st, 2019, the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said during the government cabinet session on Friday, local media reported.

This is the biggest increase in minimum wage in Croatia since 2008 and will affect around 37,000 workers that receive the minimum wage, in particular in the textile, leather, wood, and metal industries.

The minimum wage in Croatia is already higher than in Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania, Latvia, and Hungary, Plenkovic said, adding that the new increase would mean Croatia would also surpass the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Estonia, the regional Tv N1 reported. (ANSA).
