Croatia: unemployment started to rise again in October, 9.1%

Seasonal occurrence, rate lower than in previous years

28 November, 16:57
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 28 - The unemployment rate in Croatia started to rise again after reaching a record-low of 8.4% in September, the lowest registered in Croatia since 2000, the year when the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) started to report the indicator.

According to new data made public by DZS, the total registered unemployment rate was 9.1% in October 2018.

The increase is "a seasonal occurrence on the local labour market commonly observed at the end of September and in early October," analysts of the Raiffeisen Bank Austria clarified, quoted by local media. The number of unemployed registered in October 2018, although higher than in September, is very much below the data registered in the same month in the previous years, data from DZS show. The unemployment rate in October 2017 was 11.2%, 13.8% in October 2016, 16.9% in October 2015 and 18.6% in October 2014. (ANSA).
