Transport: Romania, 3 bln yearly costs for car accidents

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DECEMBER 28 - The socio-economic costs from road deaths in Romania amount to approximately 3 billion euros yearly, according to estimates of the European Commission, the specialized portal Business Review informed.

Romania's road death rate rose to 98 per million inhabitants in 2017, ahead of Bulgaria (96 per million), while no other European Union member state recorded a rate higher than 80 per million inhabitants, Business Review said, recalling that the safest member states in terms of road security were Sweden and Britain, with fewer than 30 road deaths per million inhabitants in 2017.
