(ANSA) - ISTANBUL - At least 15 migrants are known to have
died and 20 are missing after a boat went down off the Turkish
Black Sea coast, Anadolu agency said on Friday.
The Turkish coast guard rescued a further 40 people from the
vessel, which sunk off Kefken in the province of Kocaeli. The
search is ongoing for the missing.
The rescue operation began at dawn, after a commercial ship
received an alarm signal from a fishing boat carrying the
migrants. An airplane, a helicopter and three coast guard
vessels, supported by five commercial ships, are involved.
In recent weeks the flow of migrants and refugees along the
Black Sea route from Turkey to the coasts of Bulgaria and
Romania has increased. (ANSA).
