(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, APRIL 26 - Ahead of the Western Balkans' meeting on Monday in Berlin, organized by Germany and France, EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, said: "the main purpose is to find a solution and breaking the deadlock over the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina".

"It is clear that an agreement must be reached by the two countries, and an externally imposed solution cannot work", EU Commissioner said in an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt.

EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini, will attend the meeting on Monday. Hahn welcomed "Paris and Berlin's renewed interest in the region," and pointed out that "the European integration of the Western Balkans is a political priority for the whole EU".

"A solution to Kosovo's issue and to stability and progress in the other countries of the region will only be achieved if we act in unison and give the Western Balkans a credible European perspective", explained the Commissioner.(ANSA).
