(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MARCH 14 - Austria's foreign minister, Karin
Kneissl, met with Russian president Vladimir Putin during her
recent visit to Moscow, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov
announced today. ''Yes - said Peskov - I can confirm it. Putin
received Mrs. Kneissl. They discussed and had an exchange of
views on bilateral relations between Austria and Russia and
briefly discussed many international political issues: regional
conflicts, the general situation at a global level and relations
between Russia and Europe''.
On March 12, Kneissl met with the head of Russian diplomacy
Serghiei Lavrov in Moscow. Minister Kneissl's visit to Russia
was initially scheduled for December, but it was then postponed
indefinitely after an Austrian colonel was accused of being a
Kremlin spy. Kneissl sparked a row last summer for having Putin
as a guest of honor at her wedding in Austria, in the Styrian
vineyards. (ANSA).
