Albania, Macedonia, start of negotiations is up to EU summit
Leaders are still debating, France and the Netherlands against

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 15 - The decision on the opening
of EU accession negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia is
delayed until the European Council on Thursday and Friday in
Brussels. According to reports, the unanimity required for the
go-ahead to the negotiations was not reached at the meeting in
Luxembourg at the General Affairs Council.
The discussion will continue Thursday between the EU heads of state and government. France, which has always opposed the start of negotiations, was the only state to have vetoed both countries. The Netherlands were against Albania. (ANSA).
