(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCTOBER 10 - In Novi Sad, northern Serbia,
a trilateral meeting between Serbia, Albania and Northern
Macedonia began this morning. The goal is to lay the foundations
for the creation of a common market including the three
countries, by removing barriers and obstacles, to facilitate
trade and the circulation of goods, people and services. Serbian
President Aleksandar Vucic, promoter of the initiative he called
a 'small Schengen', and the Albanian and Macedonian prime
ministers, Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev, attended the meeting.
The three politicians had already dealt with the issue
informally in a meeting that took place last month in New York
on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. According to Vucic,
removing barriers to trade would facilitate an intensification
of economic cooperation between the countries of the Western
Balkans, a market with 20 million potential consumers. And in
this way, the countries of the region would be stronger and more
competitive compared to much stronger economic realities such as
the EU, the US, and Asia. (ANSA)
