(ANSA) - BERLIN, June 7 - The difference of opinion over the
opening of negotiations on Albania's and North Macedonia's
accession into the EU is becoming stronger and stronger in the
Great Coalition ruling Germany.
"I am very sorry that the CDU-CSU Union refuses, unlike what
they promised a year ago, to open up accession negotiations with
Albania and North Macedonia," European Affairs undersecretary
Michael Roth (SPD) told the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
According to Roth, the negative stance has been expressed by
the Christian Democrats in the Foreign Affairs Committee at the
Bundestag.
According to the undersecretary, "both countries have done
their homework, in terms of security and stability in the
region, it is imperative to be trustworthy and send positive
signals. Everything else would be negligence in terms of foreign
policy," he warned. (ANSA).
