(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 10 APR - The situation in Kosovo is stable
and under control, said the KFOR commander, Italian major
general Lorenzo D'Addario, who also invited political
representatives of the various parties to be careful and show
and a sense of responsibility when they make statements.
''My assessment is that the situation is peaceful, however, I
think that the rhetoric and certain statements do not help. We
need your help to calm the situation. For this reason, we must
be extremely cautious when we make statements'', said D'Addario,
cited today by the Serbian media. According to D'Addario, it is
important to be responsible and ''think about the consequences
of what you say''.
The KFOR commander, therefore, denied that the presence in
northern Kosovo of a Nato military group composed of soldiers
from various countries, including the Albanian military, was a
provocation, as claimed by some in Serbia. ''The Serbs in
northern Kosovo should not feel threatened but safer when we are
there'', he said. (ANSA).
