(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 04 APR - Today EU High Representative Federica Mogherini unveiled a new mural in Brussels, painted by Rikardo Druškić, one of the most acclaimed young artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The piece of art is dedicated to the people from the Western Balkans and the EU and the deep cultural ties between them. "It is now for us, both at the European Union level with our Member States and with the authorities of the Balkan countries, to bring all the Balkans inside of the European Union. We can still use these seven months to go to do some irreversible steps for each of you to get closer to the EU", Mogherini said.

"Today, compared to five years ago, each and every one of the six partners that we have in the Western Balkans is closer to the European Union", EU High Representative added. "For the Balkans, I even have difficulty in using the word enlargement; I think it is really a matter of reunification of our continent", Mogherini added. The reunification would be, according to her, "the best way - possibly the only way - to mend the wounds of war in the region once and for all".

The mural is located in rue Rue du Marché aux Peaux, a stone's throw away from the Grand Place. Its title "It is only with the heart that one can see well" refers to a passage of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's novel The Little Prince.

All the six ambassadors to the EU of the Western Balkans' countries attended the unveiling ceremony. The creation of the mural was supported by the EU, the Balkan Trafik Festival and the City of Brussels. It will become part of the popular Brussels' Street Art Parcours. "My country is mostly known for the war and the bloodshed, with this work I wanted to show it under a different and more positive light, to send a universal message of love, peace, tolerance, and reconciliation: people should look at each other without prejudice and with an open heart", the artist from Sarajevo explained.
