EU mission to the W.Balkans to speed up roaming charges cuts

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, OCTOBER 8 - Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Digital Economy, will be on official mission to the Western Balkans starting from today until Friday, 12th October, to have inter-institutional talks on the EU Digital Agenda for the countries of the region, and, notably, a number of digital files, such as the reduction of roaming tariffs in the region.

In Podgorica, Montenegro, Gabriel Montenegro, will meet with Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, and Minister of Public Administration, Suzana Pribilovic. EU commissioner will also meet the Macedonian Minister of Information Society Damjan Manchevski, the Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi, and the Kosovar Minister of Public Administration, Mahir Yagcilar. On Thursday, 11th, Gabriel will move to Pristina to meet with some Ministers and representatives of the Kosovar private sector, including Telecom Operators. On Friday, 12th, at the end of her trip, EU Commissioner will attend the International Conference 'DigitalKS'. Last June, Brussels launched its Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans. The strategy would see a cut on data traffic costs in the region's countries from summer 2019 and the reduction of tariffs for regional calls in the next 2 years.(ANSA).
