(ANSA) - Rome, January 22 - Adam Long beat Phil Mickelson and
Adam Hadwin to triumph at the Desert Classic in California,
winning his maiden PGA Tour title.
The American golfer, 31, sealed his victory in La Quinta,
California, with 262 on 26 under, beating fellow American
Mickelson in the final round.
Mickelson (the leader after 54 holes) and Canada's Adam
Hadwin both finished second (with 263, -25).
Long called his win a "special victory", saying it was
unexpected and thus even more beautiful.
"I had a terrible putting day", said Mickelson, who had
dominated the scene in the first three opening rounds before
giving in to the 31-year-old winner from New Orleans, the world
number 417.
Spanish outgoing champion Jon Rahm finished sixth (267, -21).
World leader Justin Rose disappointed, finishing the event in
34th position (274, -14).
