(ANSA) - Rome, September 28 - Francesco Molinari scored two
points with partner Tommy Fleetwood as Europe took a 5-3 lead
after the first day of the Ryder Cup on Friday.
Molinari and Fleetwood were Europe's only winners in the
morning fourballs, against Tiger Woods and Patrick Reed, as the
US surged to a 3-1 lead.
But in the afternoon they were part of the first ever
European foursome sweep, beating Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth
5&4.
The pair were the only Europeans to win both their matches.
"There's still a long way to go, and tomorrow will be
difficult," said Molinari.
"We were good at not being intimidated.
"It was great to beat Woods and Reed. But nothing has been
decided yet. There are still 20 points up for grabs and we must
get nine and a half to win".
