Tunisian envoy says 'peace oil' at G7
Produced with oil from Tunisia, Italy, Spain and Greece
(ANSA) - Rome, April 12 - Attendees at the Group of Seven
summit in Taormina at the end of May will receive from Tunisian
authorities a 'peace oil' made from olives from Tunisia, Italy,
Spain and Greece with the aim of representing solidarity and
closeness among the countries of the Mediterranean.
"It is normal that they may be points of disagreement between
neighbouring countries, as on the issue of Tunisian olives"
bought by Italian producers," said Tunisian Ambassador to Rome
Moez Sinaoui.
"But it is also normal that when olive trees became diseased
in Italy, Italian private businessmen turned to the Tunisian
market.
"It's not our fault, it was the Romans who planted them
hundreds of years ago," Sinaoui said.
