A livello europeo le principali destinazioni nel 2016 sono state Spagna (45.813 ingressi), Germania (34.922) e Regno Unito (31.362). In 23.924 hanno scelto l'Italia, mentre sono stati 34.647 gli studenti e lavoratori italiani che hanno ricevuto la borsa di studio europea. In 2016, Erasmus+ supported the EU education, training, youth and sport sectors with a budget of €2.27 billion. The overall priorities were improving the level of key competences and skills, both highly relevant to the labour market and to the a cohesive society; and fostering social inclusion, by supporting the Member States in delivering on the so-called Paris Declaration, promoting citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination through education.
At an institutional level, Erasmus+ is an important instrument for systemic and long term impact, providing support for innovation and reforms that improve the quality and relevance of institutions, organisations and policies.
In 2016, Erasmus+ has reached cruising speed and delivered on its objectives, supporting 725-000 mobilities, reaching out to nearly 79-000 organisations and funding close to 21 000 projects across its different fields of action. The programme has demonstrated high implementation performance as well as efficient absorption of funds, showing its potential to develop an even more ambitious future.
