Commissioner Pierre Moscovici on Friday thanked the Italian
people who had expressed support after League MEP Angelo Ciocca
banged his shoe on a report of his.
Ciocca pulled the stunt after the Commission rejected Italy's
budget plan for 2019.
"Thank you from the heart to the Italians who reacted to the
act by @AngeloCiocca," Moscovici said via Twitter.
"In democracy, violence, even if it is symbolic, is not
tolerable in parliaments or in any other place.
"We can talk, not agree with each other, but with respect for
people and the institutions".
