Austrian Chancellor
Sebastian Kurz, the EU duty chief, said Thursday the EU had "no
sympathy" for Italy's financial policies" and "we expect the
(Italian) government to respect the (budget) rules".
Speaking after an EU summit, Kurz said "we're not the only
ones to think that, many other countries think so too".
He said they all backed the European Commission in demanding
that "EU rules be respected".
He said "the Maastricht criteria are valid for everyone. In
Austria we certainly won't pay for other people's debt".
