British Ambassador to Italy
Christopher Prentice said Friday he bilateral trade will
continue to flourish in the aftermath of the Brexit.
The UK is Italy's seventh trading partner and
"made-in-Italy (products) will continue to be important and
competitive on the British market," the ambassador said.
The UK remains "open for business" with Italy, its
10-largest trading partner, he said.
"The close bilateral ties between Italy and the UK predate
our entrance into the European Union, and I trust they will
continue to prosper for many years to come," Prentice said.
"We have much in common on which to continue to build".
Italy exports goods worth £20 billion to Britain, and
Italians spend over £15 billion on British products and
services, Prentice pointed out.
"Trade relations between our two countries have always
flourished and I am certain they will continue to do so," the
ambassador said.
