Unilateral initiatives will not
help fight terrorism and international collaboration is
essential, Italian President Sergio Mattarella said during an
interview with Russian news agency TASS on Tuesday.
"The collaboration of everyone is necessary. Unilateral
initiatives will not manage to adequately resolve and face the
problem. International collaboration with shared strategies and
action is essential," said Mattarella.
He said countries should work together closely to fight
fundamentalist terror groups as well as to remove their root
causes.
"We need a strong answer and a cultural answer to defeat
hate-preaching that is spread by fundamentalist terrorism using
the internet," he said.
Russia has launched air strikes in Syria in recent days,
saying it is targeting militants of Islamic State to protect its
national security interests.
