NATO will beef up its rapid
response capability in eastern Europe as fighting between
Ukraine and pro-Russia separatists intensifies,
Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Monday. Our
presence "will be more visible," he said. As well, the European
Commission said it is at work on further sanctions against
Russia as leaders had agreed to do at an EU summit last
Saturday, a spokesperson for Commission President Jose' Manuel
Barroso said Monday. The measures will be ready this week.
