Pope Francis has said
that sex abuse of children reminded him of human sacrifices,
while pointing out that only 2% of cases involved priests.
"It's a scandal, but it's a world scandal that makes me think
of human sacrifices of children, as the pagans did," Francis
told seminarians from Lombardy on Saturday, Vatican sources said
Tuesday.
"You know the statistics: 2% of abuse that happens is done by
priests. 'Oh that's not much Father'. No. Because if it was one
priest, this is monstrous. Let's not justify ourselves because
we are only 2%.
"Some 70% takes place in families and local areas: then, in
gyms, coaches; in schools".
