Pope Francis told young
people in Tallinn Tuesday many young people were indignant at
not seeing a clear condemnation of clerical sex abuse scandals.
"We know that many young people don't ask us for anything
because they don't deem us significant interlocutors for their
existence," Francis said in the Estonian capital.
"Some, indeed, expressly ask to be left in peace, because
they feel the Church's presence as bothersome and even
irritating.
"They are indignant at sexual and economic scandals towards
which they do not see an adequate condemnation; at not being
able to adequately interpret the lives and sensibilities of
young people for lack of preparation; or simply the passive role
that we assign them".
