Pope Francis has been
informed that Australian police came to Rome last week to
question Cardinal George Pell, head of Vatican finances, in a
child-abuse probe, Vatican spokesman Greg Burke said Wednesday.
The pope has no comment to make at this time, Burke said.
Pell has denied the allegations of exposing himself to boys
in the mid-1980s and touching boys' genitals in 1978-9,
describing them as "without foundation" and "utterly false".
Pell has been charged by the pope with leading a reform of
the Vatican's finances.
