Pope Francis, in a Mass on
Thursday marking the 1050th anniversary of Poland's baptism,
encouraged the faithful to turn away from the temptations of
power and instead seek refuge in daily tasks and giving to
others.
"Being attracted by power, by largeness and by visibility
is tragically human, and it's a big temptation that tries to
insinuate itself everywhere," Pope Francis said, in his homily
during Mass at the Jasna Gora Monastery.
"Giving oneself to others, bridging the distances, dwelling
in smallness and concretely living everyday life, this is
exquisitely divine".
The pope is in Poland for World Youth Day in Krakow.
