Pope Francis spent the
summer brushing up on his English ahead of his trip to the
United States, sources said Friday,
He took lessons with Monsignor Mark Miles, who is the chief
of the English section of the Secretariat of State of the Roman
Curia, who reportedly said he is satisfied with the pope's
progress.
"The pope is a good student," said Monsignor Angelo Becciu,
who is the Substitute for General Affairs of the Secretariat of
State.
"I can say he has spent the summer preparing for this trip.
He went over all the speeches one by one...and has been very
steady and scrupulous in his English lessons".
Francis visits Cuba from September 19-22, when he is
scheduled to fly from the Caribbean island to Washington, DC.
The pontiff is slated to meet with US President Barack
Obama on the morning of September 23.
