Pope Francis wants the
beatification of Msgr Flavien Michel Melk scheduled on Saturday
in Harissa, Lebanon, to be interpreted as a message of hope and
encouragement to all oppressed Christians, said Cardinal Angelo
Amato on Thursday.
"Many Christians in the Middle East today, but also in
other regions suffer through the sunset of human civilisation
and peaceful co-existence - noted Amato - but our brothers do
not want to give in to terror" and they respond to violence
"with courage and a great faith".
