Pope Francis called gangs
a "path to moral and existential suicide", Vatican Radio
reported on Thursday.
The Pontiff was presenting Scholas Occurrentes, the first
ever world-wide, inter-religious network that aims to promote
education and peace outreach.
Pope Francis called gangs a "normal" option in
underprivileged society and "the path to moral and existential
suicide".
"I don't want humanity to be suicidal", Pope Francis added.
The international initiative is a collaboration with the
Vatican, United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF and South
American Football Confederation, CONMEBOL.
