Pope Francis will officially promulgate an extraordinary Holy Year with the reading April 11 of excerpts from a special papal Bull in front St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican said Tuesday.
Francis first announced the Jubilee year to begin December 8 on the second anniversary of his election, on March 13.
The Bull will be published at 5:30 pm on Saturday April 11.
Afterwards the Argentinian pontiff will preside over the first Vespers ceremony of the Sunday of Divine Mercy underlining the fundamental theme of mercy for the Holy Year.
The Bull not only gives the formal timetable of a Holy Year but also outlines its spirit, intentions and what the pope hopes it will achieve.
