The pope reminded
Christians of the centrality of the figure of the Virgin Mary in
a post on his Twitter feed on Tuesday.
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is
his or her mother is an orphan," Francis said in a message on
his nine-language Twitter account @Pontifex, which now boasts
over 15 million followers.
The account was opened by Francis's predecessor Benedict
XVI in December 2012.
Since becoming pope the following March Francis has
increased the following almost five-fold.
